Hi,
Congratulation to the maxplugin blog! No idea if it will be useful, but let's see what happens. Perhaps in one year we all wonder how we could live without it?:))

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS SITE!! I've used it for years and it's given me a lot of fun tools.

I recently upgraded to 8, and all the plugins for 8 aren't really for 8, they're the old versions. Is my computer not putting the page together right?

I'm glad you like the site Bonnie! Most plugins that were written for Max 6 and 7 work in Max 8, that is why you are seeing a lot of older plugins on the Max 8 pages.

@dieter: I just added your blog to my links list :o)

@thierry: All of the shaders in the database have been tested here, so they definitely work. Are you sure you are using them properly? For more information on using mr shaders, take a look at this huge thread at CGTalk: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=104578

Great site, always very helpful, is there a plug-in (or other way) to open a .max file created in verison 8 with version 5?

Try BFF, it's a script written by Bobo that you can get over at www.scriptspot.com

Thanks once again for this great resource Dave, I've used it so many times for so many years I can't count anymore.

It would be helpful to sort by date within a category, to see what's the most recent. Seems to sort only by Author.

I also see many plugins listed in the Max 8 section that are from 2003... these must be r3 or r4 compiled, probably won't run in r8. Would be cool if these were culled by max version.

Also might help to integrate some sort of automated link-checker, that would tell you which sites went down for good.

Hi Eric,
all of the plugins in the Max 8 section with a date from 2003 are plugins that were recompiled for Max 6, most of which still work in Max 8.

The sort by date is easy to do, but it would need to be an option. I'll have to think about where it could be added.

I had an automatic link checker on the site for a few days, but I ended up getting thousands of messages back telling me about broken links which weren't broken at all, so I got rid of it again. I recently tested every single link in the database and removed all broken links, so I don't think there can be that many left.

I'm glad you find the site useful!

Dave

Hi Dave,

Always checking Maxplugins.de every day for years now. Thanks for a very useful and surveyable resource.

As far as suggestions go: expanding it with reviews, general news and/or MaxScripts would make it the ultimate Max-related database. You can use my reviews from Metinseven.com if you like. If you want to give me a login I would also like to contribute news and short reviews. Just drop me an e-mail if you're interested.

Thanks again,

Metin

A very good Second-life exporter. I will try to support with technical knowledge (SL an 3DSMax).
